The FAAC 490112 Steel Load-Bearing Box is a foundation box accessory designed specifically for FAAC S800H (also compatible with S700H / S800) in-ground hydraulic swing gate operators. Built from cataphoresis-treated steel for enhanced corrosion resistance, it serves as a robust support base when mounting the actuator underground. The package includes an anti-rotation pin to prevent twisting or misalignment under operation, and a satin stainless steel lid that offers durability and clean aesthetics. It is particularly essential for bi-parting (dual-leaf) installations or when the standard single operator kit requires the steel housing version. Ideal for installations where strength, stability, and long-term resistance to rust are required.
Built by FAAC to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards for strength, alignment, and fit.
Steel with cataphoresis treatment increases resistance to corrosion and environmental degradation.
Helps maintain proper alignment of operator shafts by including anti-rotation pin, preventing twisting or misalignment that could damage operator components.
Stainless steel lid protects interior from moisture, debris, and vandalism.
Suitable for heavy-duty gate systems, but installation should be done by qualified installers following FAAC guidelines to ensure proper foundation and drainage.
Prepare the foundation: Excavate the foundation foot or pad per FAAC’s recommended depth and dimensions; ensure stable, level concrete base.
Place the 490112 box: Position the steel load bearing box in the prepared foundation, ensuring it is level and orientation is correct. Use anti-rotation pin positioning to align with expected gate swing and operator shaft.
Lid installation: Attach the satin stainless steel cover/lid to the top to seal and protect internal mounting area.
Mount operator(s): After concrete sets / foundation cures, mount the S800H operator(s) into the box for single or bi-parting configuration. Ensure shaft collar, flange, splined shaft, etc., align precisely and hardware is torqued per FAAC specifications.
Drainage: Make sure there is proper drainage around and in the box to avoid water pooling; moisture inside the foundation can degrade even treated steel over time.
Testing: Once mounted and connected, cycle the gate(s) open/close under load; check for movement, wobble, vibration, noise. Inspect if the box remains stable, lid sealed, pins secured.
Use the steel version when cost or environmental conditions permit, but in extremely corrosive or coastal environments, consider the stainless steel version (490113).
Ensure corrosion protection at welds or edges; periodic inspection and touch-ups to protective coatings may prolong life.
Inspect the anti-rotation pin for secure fit and no looseness periodically; it is critical to maintain alignment.
Label or document the installation so maintenance personnel know which foundation box version is in use (steel vs stainless) for future parts and matching lid replacements.
During snowy / wet seasons, clear debris and ensure lid isn’t blocked; moisture and ice can cause damage or alignment issues.
